I'll overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be streamed live on Netflix.

Briton Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the combatants confronted each other to build hype for next month's boxing match.

Former twice world heavyweight champion Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge mismatch - at Miami Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Boxer's Attitude

"I will damage his features and hurt his body. I'm here to prove my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's how fighters think.

"I will seriously aim to injure him. That's my goal."

Civil Exchange

Despite those words, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - usually known for his dramatics - were respectful and remained civil with each other.

Paul instead criticized former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "a joke" after Ngannou turned down a match opportunity.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is superior to Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua said.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Opponent

Despite saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his opponent's boxing ability.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he remarked.

Jake Paul's History

Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has primarily fought mixed martial artists or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He lost to Briton Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

Still, the inexperienced fighter remains one of the sport's biggest commercial attractions, consistently making huge earnings.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old predicted a KO victory in round four or five and claimed he would derail the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently under discussion for two years from now.

"It will be my match with Fury next year," Paul declared.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul met for the traditional confrontation, with their size difference on show, it drove home just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the match is truly proceeding.
